Suspect Arrested in Major Lephalale Drug Bust

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in Overwatch, Lephalale, after police uncovered a stash of suspected illicit drugs valued at an estimated R150 000 during an intelligence-driven operation on Monday, 24 November 2025.

According to the South African Police Service in Limpopo, a police officer received a tip-off at around 9am about a man allegedly selling drugs in the Onverwacht area. The suspect was reportedly travelling in a white Nissan NP200, with the registration number supplied to the police.

Later that morning, officers traced the vehicle to a property situated at 15 Blouhog Street. On arrival, they found an African male sitting in the driver’s seat. After identifying himself, police immediately conducted a search of the vehicle.

Inside, officers discovered a blue plastic bag containing several types of suspected drugs, including nyaope, cat, crystal meth, and heroin. The substance mix, commonly linked to local drug networks, is believed to have a significant street value.

The suspect was arrested on the scene and is expected to appear before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, where he will face charges of dealing in drugs.

Police investigations remain ongoing, and authorities have encouraged community members to continue reporting suspicious activities to help curb drug-related offences in the area.
