Leaders Visit Flood-Hit Makhado

It was all hands on deck on Wednesday morning as Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba led a high-level government delegation to provide support to families affected by recent flash floods in Limpopo.

Premier Ramathuba was joined by the Minister of Human Settlements, Ms Thembisile Phumelele Simelane, and the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), Mr Basikopo Makamu. The leaders visited Makhado Local Municipality to assess the impact of the floods and to engage directly with affected communities.

Several families have been displaced by the floods and are currently being accommodated in churches and by community members. The delegation conducted site inspections and held discussions with residents to outline government interventions aimed at providing immediate relief and long-term support to affected households.

Government officials indicated that coordinated efforts are under way to ensure that displaced families receive necessary assistance, including shelter and other essential services, as recovery processes continue.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by government to respond to disasters and to support communities during times of crisis.
