De Jager Banned After Dangerous Tackle

South African lock Lood de Jager has been handed a four-match suspension following a no-arms tackle during the Springboks’ 32–17 win over France in Paris at the weekend.

De Jager received a red card in the first half after a shoulder charge on French full-back Thomas Ramos during Saturday’s Autumn Series Test. The disciplinary ruling means he will miss South Africa’s remaining matches against Italy, Ireland and Wales, as well as his club Wild Knights’ Japan League One fixture against Brave Lupus in December.

Despite being reduced to 14 men for the entire second half, the Springboks underlined their world-champion credentials with a commanding performance. Replacement backs André Esterhuizen and Grant Williams both crossed the try-line in the second half, while young fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu also scored to seal the victory.

The match was particularly memorable as it marked captain Siya Kolisi’s 100th appearance for South Africa. The two-time World Cup-winning skipper celebrated the milestone in style, leading his team to another impressive win on foreign soil.

The Springboks will now look to continue their winning momentum in the remaining Autumn Series fixtures, albeit without one of their most experienced forwards.
