Elderly Thohoyandou Woman Found Murdered

Police in Thohoyandou have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 77-year-old woman was discovered at her home in Maniini Block M on Tuesday morning, 9 September.

According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, officers were called to the residence at around 10:06. On arrival, they found the victim’s son, who identified the deceased as his mother. She was discovered in a one-room house with stab wounds to her upper body and a wire still tied around her neck.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the attack took place earlier that morning, at around 03:30, when neighbours reportedly heard the woman screaming for help. However, they were unable to intervene as the property was fenced off and locked,” Ledwaba said.

No arrests have yet been made, and police investigations are ongoing.
