Regaining Balance: Tips for Irregular Periods
February 10, 2025An escapee facing charges of kidnapping and murder, identified as Azwinndini, was recaptured after fleeing from police custody. He had escaped from a Limpopo medical facility on 21 January while in leg irons, prompting a manhunt.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng, confirmed that Azwinndini escaped while receiving treatment and that a case of escape from lawful custody was registered. “The investigation team worked tirelessly, following leads from residents,” said Thakeng.
On Saturday, residents of Ha Mphego village informed police that Azwinndini had been found. However, they had already severely assaulted him by the time officers arrived. As a result, police registered a case of attempted murder due to the mob justice he endured.
Azwinndini sustained serious injuries and was unable to speak when police recovered him. He has been readmitted to the hospital under police guard. Authorities confirmed that he will appear in the local magistrate’s court once he recovers.
Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the community for assisting in tracing the fugitive but cautioned against resorting to mob justice. “Taking the law into your own hands is punishable by law,” Hadebe warned, urging citizens to always allow the justice system to handle suspects.
The incident has drawn attention to the challenges of balancing community cooperation with the rule of law, as police continue their investigation.
