July 23, 2026As part of Mandela Month celebrations, the Bushbuckridge branch of IMATU donated 20 bags of cement and paint to Kganyang Day Care Centre in Dingledale (Chochocho) on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
The donation followed an initiative by the branch’s Local Secretary, Progress Mashego, who identified the centre’s needs and submitted a request to the union’s national office for assistance.
Mashego said the donation was inspired by the legacy of the late Dr Nelson Mandela and his message of giving back to those in need.
“The late Dr Nelson Mandela taught us the spirit of giving back to the less fortunate, and I was inspired by his teachings to support this day care centre,” he said.
Receiving the donation, Kganyang Day Care Centre manager Pretty Dilebo expressed her gratitude to IMATU for the support. She said the building materials would help the centre plaster unfinished sections of the facility and construct an additional room to be used as a kitchen.
Kganyang Day Care Centre cares for 37 children and is situated next to the ZCC Church in Dingledale.
Community members and organisations wishing to support the centre are encouraged to contact the centre manager, Ms Pretty Dilebo, to make a contribution
