The Kruger National Park (KNP) has declared itself fully prepared to welcome both day visitors and overnight guests for the upcoming festive season. General Manager Reynold Thakhuli said the park is entering the holiday period with strengthened resources, improved visitor services and enhanced safety measures.
Thakhuli revealed that the park recently received a new fleet of vehicles, including specialised trails vehicles designed for extended guided experiences. “This is the first time that we have vehicles like this, especially trails that run over a week,” he said, noting that the additions will significantly improve the tourist experience.
Visitor safety remains a central focus of the park’s festive readiness plan. Thakhuli confirmed that advanced technology will be deployed inside the park to ensure that all guests are protected during their stay. Alongside the technological upgrades, law enforcement teams will be operating around the clock.
“We have got technology that we are going to be utilising within the park to ensure that our visitors’ safety is secured. We will be working 24/7 in terms of our law enforcement,” he explained.
He also issued a firm warning to anyone considering entering the park with malicious intent. “We are sending a caution to those who will be coming to the park with malicious intent that we will be ready for them,” he said.
However, his message to tourists was warm and encouraging. Thakhuli urged families, holidaymakers and nature lovers to visit the world-renowned park in large numbers. “Please come in numbers, come and enjoy the facilities that we have to offer,” he said. He reminded day visitors to book in advance and to enjoy the park responsibly.
Last year, KNP recorded just under 28,000 visitors during the festive period. With upgraded vehicles, reinforced safety systems and the park’s long-standing commitment to conservation, management is confident that this year’s holiday season will be even better for guests and the park alike.
