November 3, 2025A 20-year-old female learner has been arrested after allegedly pouring boiling water on a male classmate during a study camp at a secondary school in Seleteng Village, Capricorn District.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 26 October 2025, at about 04:30, while learners were camping at the school to prepare for their final examinations.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the 19-year-old victim was asleep in one of the classrooms when the suspect accused him of inappropriately touching her. The male learner reportedly denied the accusation, after which the suspect left the room but later returned and poured boiling water on him.
The victim sustained severe burn injuries and was immediately transported to hospital, where he remains under medical care.
Following a detailed police investigation, the female learner was arrested on Friday, 31 October 2025. She faces a charge of Assault with Intent to Cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and is expected to appear before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 November 2025.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
