One Suspect Re-Arrested After Lydenburg Escape
December 1, 2025Limpopo police have launched a full-scale manhunt after a 77-year-old farmer was murdered during a robbery at a farm near Baltimore in the Tolwe policing area, Capricorn District, over the weekend.
According to police, two suspects allegedly entered the couple’s home on Saturday, 29 November 2025, where they attacked the elderly pair. The farmer was fatally assaulted, while his wife was tied up during the incident. The suspects fled the scene with firearms, mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Despite the trauma, the farmer’s wife managed to free herself and alert the local farm watch, prompting an immediate response from community safety structures and police units.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered that all available resources be deployed to track down the suspects. She emphasised the seriousness of farm-related attacks and called for intensified efforts to ensure those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
