MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya Upholds Inclusive Education in Vhembe

Inclusive Education aims to ensure that all learners — including those living with disabilities, learning difficulties, or other special needs — receive equal treatment and meaningful support within the schooling system.

As part of Inclusive Education Month, MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya donated 28 buses to 25 special schools across all ten Education Districts. This initiative forms part of the department’s continued efforts to improve access and create safer, more reliable transport for learners with special needs.

The MEC also visited Rivoni School for the Blind in the Vhembe West Education District, where she monitored the ongoing 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations. Sixteen candidates at the school, some of whom use Braille, are writing their Home Language papers in Tshivenda, Xitsonga and Sepedi.

One of the candidates, Tamia Chabalala, expressed confidence as the exams got underway. “We have been ready for the final exam and we have been preparing since the beginning of the year,” she said.

Learners at Rivoni have pledged to maintain their longstanding record of excellence, aiming once again for a 100% pass rate. The school has consistently achieved full passes and continues to represent the province with distinction.

MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya commended the learners and encouraged them to give their best. “Today we are here to wish each of you the very best. I expect nothing less than excellence. Rivoni has always given us a learner who represents with pride on the national stage and provincially. I trust that this year will be no different,” she said.

With determination and strong departmental support, Rivoni School for the Blind is aiming for a Top 5 position nationally in the 2025 NSC results.
