Musina Traffic Operation Clamps Down on Illegal Vehicles

The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has reported successful results from a recent provincial traffic operation in Musina, aimed at enforcing road safety and compliance with transport regulations.

During the operation, traffic officials stopped a bus travelling from Zimbabwe carrying 51 passengers. The vehicle was deemed unroadworthy and was operating illegally without a valid permit for transporting passengers for reward. The bus was impounded and is being held at the Musina Traffic Control Centre (Weighbridge) pending further investigation. All passengers were assisted in securing safe alternative transport.

In addition, seven sedan vehicles, commonly referred to as “4+1” or maxi taxis, were impounded over the past four days. These vehicles were also found operating illegally without the required licences or permits.

The department issued a stern warning to all operators, emphasising that illegal transport activities compromise passenger safety and disrupt the regulated public transport system.

Officials commended law enforcement officers for their dedication to upholding road safety, particularly during periods of high traffic. The department stressed that passenger safety remains the top priority and urged all road users and public transport operators to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and fully licensed at all times.
