ANC Questions SACP’s Independent Election Move
November 25, 2025Police in Limpopo have opened a murder case and launched an urgent manhunt after a suspect was fatally shot during a confrontation with members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) at a farm in Tshamutumbu, Vhembe District. The incident occurred on Sunday evening and has sparked a full-scale investigation.
According to authorities, SANDF personnel were acting on information regarding a Nissan Navara double cab that had been flagged by a financial institution after its owner allegedly defaulted on instalments for several months. When soldiers attempted to bring the vehicle to a stop, the occupants reportedly opened fire.
The soldiers returned fire, leading the two men inside the bakkie to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes. A search of the area was immediately launched, during which one of the suspects was found lying unconscious with a gunshot wound. Emergency services rushed him to hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival. Police have confirmed that his identity has not yet been established.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said a comprehensive investigation is now underway. “A case of murder has been opened to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. The vehicle has also been seized as part of the investigation,” he said.
Police are continuing their search for the second suspect, who managed to escape during the confrontation. Members of the public with information that could assist the investigation are urged to come forward.
