Bogus Doctor Arrested in Embalenhle Surgery
June 18, 2025A 54-year-old female suspect is set to appear before the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court on 17 June 2025, following her arrest in connection with the murder of her 63-year-old male partner at Boelang Trust, Acornhoek.
According to reports, police were alerted to the discovery of a deceased male in a room at the specified location on 13 June 2025. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the lifeless body of the man lying on the ground, with visible bruises on his neck, indicating signs of strangulation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased and the suspect, who had been in a long-term relationship, had a heated argument on the night of 12 June 2025. The altercation allegedly escalated to the point where the suspect is believed to have strangled the victim.
Detectives working on the case managed to trace the suspect to Makhushane Village in the Phalaborwa area of Limpopo Province, where she was arrested on 14 June 2025. The arrest was carried out by detectives who were on standby and responded swiftly once credible information on the suspect’s whereabouts was received.
The woman is facing charges of murder and has been remanded in custody pending her court appearance. Police investigations are ongoing to gather further evidence and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are also working to determine whether there was a history of domestic violence between the couple.
Court Update:
The suspect, Nicholas Thwala (35), was granted R2,000 bail during her court appearance. The matter has been postponed to 17 July 2025 for further proceedings.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, has expressed his concern over the incident and extended his condolences to the victim’s family. He also called on communities to pursue peaceful and lawful means to resolve domestic and relationship-related conflicts.
“As a nation, we look up to our elders for guidance and wisdom. It is deeply disheartening when disputes between individuals result in the loss of life,” said Major General Mkhwanazi. “We urge all citizens to seek help from appropriate channels—such as social workers, family support centres, and community forums—before resorting to violence.”
