Foreign National Arrested for Stolen Vehicle
November 13, 2025Motorists travelling in and around Phalaborwa are advised to exercise caution following a road closure at the corner of the R40 and R71 routes between Lulekani and Namakgale. The closure comes after community protesters reportedly burned tyres and used rocks and tree branches to block the road.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently on the scene and monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of all road users and restore traffic flow as soon as possible.
Motorists travelling from the Gravellote area are urged to make use of alternative routes through Namakgale via Calvin Ngobeni Drive into Phalaborwa. Other available routes include Makhushoane Road or the Lulekani-Ben Farm Road for access to the town.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has advised road users to plan their journeys carefully, follow diversion signs, and allow additional travel time while the situation is being managed.
The department also encourages the public to stay informed through official updates and avoid spreading unverified information on social media.
